Help and support Your local support group North East About the group This group meets every 3 months for lunch at the Toby Carvery in Newcastle upon Tyne. The support group has been established for around 8 years but many of the members have known each other for longer. Many of them met whilst attending hospital for treatment of their dystonia. The group has been growing as more people are being diagnosed. Great friendships have grown from the support group and many keep in touch daily. Members travel from Carlisle, Northumberland, Hexham, Gateshead, North Tyneside, Dubai, and America. The group also put leaflets in the clinics at Walkergate Park Hospital and the outreach clinics. Raising awareness of dystonia is important to them and so is fundraising but their main concern as a group is supporting and helping people who have dystonia now.
