About the group

The Kent Dystonia UK Support Group was started in 1988 and meets to give members an opportunity to have a coffee and chat, with occasional speakers.

Meetings are semi-formal but allow plenty of time for discussion. A small buffet is offered for refreshments.

The group meets 4 – 5 times a year for regular meetings and meets for other events and activities. The group meets in church or village halls in locations across Kent to give all members the opportunity to join a meeting local to them at least once a year. The group usually has between 6 and 20 people attending the meetings.

The group does meet for other events and activities including in December for a Christmas lunch, fundraising and awareness raising.

They have 3 regular volunteers that act as the treasurer, coordinator and secretary, who organise and run the group meetings. All those who attend meetings help with the jobs that need to be done at meetings (e.g. venue booking, raffle, refreshments and chairs). The cost of running the group is met from donations, raffles, fundraising and the general generosity of members.
