Ross is originally from Scotland but is based in Yorkshire. He joined as a Dystonia UK Trustee in November 2022.

Ross was diagnosed with cervical dystonia in 2017 after being diagnosed with dystonic tremors in 2015 affecting his neck and it has now developed affecting his right hand.

Ross is the Business Development Officer at Wakefield and District Society for Deaf People and also joined them in November 2022 having worked for Royal Mail for 5 and a half years prior to that in varying roles. He is profoundly deaf and uses a bilingual communication approach using BSL and spoken English. He has had a varied career working for a range of voluntary organisations in a leadership capacity. He is also currently a Trustee of Deaf Scots Trust which is a charity he established and runs in Scotland and Action Deafness.

As much as he is committed to improving lives and communities and has spent much of his life doing this, he does love a night out - he reckons it helps to de-stress!
