Campaigning for Change

Friday 25th September 2020, 10am

One of our roles as a national organisation is to magnify the voice of dystonia patients and to raise awareness. The effects of COVID-19 have significantly changed the NHS and the neurological landscape and our priorities during this time have evolved. We work closely with Neurological Alliances from across the country to ensure the voice of dystonia is being heard. In this talk, The Neurological Alliance in England will be sharing their thoughts on neurology care and how we represent the community to continue pushing for more awareness and change at a governmental level followed by a Q&A with a panel of policy experts.

Mental Health Matters

Friday 25th September 2020, 2pm

It has long been suggested that dystonia is “all in your head” and while we know that not to be true, it is a fact that any long term chronic condition can have an effect on your mental health. The past year has been especially challenging for many and as we enter the ‘new normal’ this presents its own challenges for our state of mind. Specialists in the field will come and have an in-depth conversation about how you can look after your mental health, especially in these incredibly stressful times, followed by a Q&A with a panel of mental health experts.

The Future of Neurology

Saturday 26th September 2020, 10am

The future is always uncertain but following the events of the last few months it seems even more so. There have been hugely significant effects on the NHS from the pandemic and the future for neurological patients may seem unclear. We are asking leading clinicians from across the country their thoughts on the future of neurology and what they think the ‘new normal’ may look like. It will be a chance for them to share updates on the NHS, including digital innovations such as telemedicine and how their trusts and practices have been impacted. Following the discussions there will also be a Q&A.
