The Dystonia Society supports research into current causes, symptoms and treatments of the condition.

Some of our current research projects include:

  • Does abnormal striatal reinforcement learning cause dystonia? A behavioural and functional MRI study.” (Medical Research Institute Dundee)
  • A clinical tool for real-time analysis and visualisation of cervical muscles for cervical dystonia being completed (Manchester Metropolitan University)
  • Sensory-motor rehabilitation therapy for task specific focal hand dystonia: A feasibility study
