Awareness Week is looming! 'Be Seen and Heard'

This year Dystonia Awareness Week is 5th - 13th May and we'd love you to join us in making it a success!

There are many ways to get involved during the week (and beyond!) to help raise awareness of dystonia.

Just Walk image

Just Walk

Taking place on the 12th May; this is a fantastic event with a choice of distances 10k, 25k, 35k, 45k or 60k. Suitable for families on a gentle walk right through to something for the tough seasoned walker. The Dystonia Society will have an awareness table at this event so even if you are not walking, why not come along and see us on the day.

Dorothy wearing green for dystoniaGo Green

Can you 'Go Green' for dystonia? Colour you hair, paint your nails or wear green clothing. This is a great idea to take to your work place, school, college, gym or local pub and do a go green day.

Most importantly take lots of photos and share them! Use the hashtags #DystoniaAwareness2018 #GoGreenandbeSeen and #GoGreen4Dystonia on Twitter, Facebook and other social media.

We would love it if you sent us your photos too.

Tea Parties

Can you organise a tea party? Even if you hold it later in the year hosting a tea party is a great way to spread the word and raise awareness while eating cake!

LVanessa and Susan at Beverley FMocal Radio

Are you able to contact your local radio station and get a little air time to raise awareness? If you would like to talk things over before you go on air feel free to contact us.

Online Awareness

We will be posting on Facebook and Twitter all through Awareness Week and it would be wonderful if you could help by sharing and retweeting!

Nearer the time we will be posting images that you can use as your own profile and banner images so that every time you post you spread dystonia awareness at the same time.

You can follow us on Twitter here and like us on Facebook here. Plus don't forget Toni the bear who you can follow on twitter here.

You can also share your experiences of dystonia online - use #DystoniaAwareness2018 #GoGreenandbeSeen

If you are planning any events during Dystonia Awareness Week don't forget to let us know! We can send you leaflets and other materials to help you. You can also purchase merchandise in our shop.
