About us Our people Trustees Andy Young (Berkshire) My wife Mandy suffered for 15 years then discovered the Dystonia Society after being diagnosed with cervical dystonia. We valued the support received from Society and regularly fundraised. Her regular botulinum toxin treatments were followed by a hugely successful DBS operation in 2012. Mandy’s instant improvement in her quality of life gave her more time and me the impetus to accept an offer to become a Trustee of the Society and more recently the Vice Chair, I am immensely proud of the work the team does. During these years Mandy and I have fundraised and raised awareness for a wide range of charities. Two years ago, we became members of Reading Lions, two of the 1.4 million Lions worldwide. Continuing to fundraise in a social environment our responsibilities include running The Reading Dragon Boat Festival, attracting charities as well as large and small companies and coverage from the BBC and ITV. With 40 years experience in the window industry, I’ve repaired hurricane damage at Kew Gardens, filmed with Channel 4’s Phil Spencer and Channel 5 and glazed everything from a fish tank to a castle. I work with homeowners and builders and enjoy seeing homes transformed by our improvements. I enjoy socialising, travel, fly fishing and dining out (hence having to work hard to keep fit too!).
