MARATHON TRIO TRIUMPH

25 April 2007

Many congratulations to all three of our runners who took part in AND COMPLETED the London Marathon 2007 – despite the gruelling heat - and helped raise at least £2,500 in sponsorship for our cause.

They were John Atkinson, who flew in from Vancouver to compete in the event; John Kimber from South London, and Joseph Dokotum from York, who met up with fundraising manager, Joy Bourne, and Phil Baldy for a traditional pre-race pasta meal on Saturday evening.

Said Joy: “We are really grateful to the two Johns and Joseph for electing to run for us. It was amazing that we managed to spot all three, from our vantage point in Deptford on Sunday and they gave us a cheery wave as they passed.

Next year a Silver Bond place will be allocated to the society for the first time and awarded to a runner who is able to raise at least £1500 in sponsorship. “Hopefully, as we continue to raise awareness of dystonia and the society, many more runners drawn out of the ballot for next year’s marathon will choose to run for us,” added Joy.
