WELSH ASSEMBLY MEMBERS LOBBIED
11 April 2007
The Dystonia Society was among 40 groups from the voluntary sector and professional bodies to lobby current Welsh Assembly members and candidates for the forthcoming elections over health and social care issues.
We were represented by Val Wells, our Service Development manager, on the last day of the assembly prior to the elections, where she was able to discuss dystonia and issues relating to Wales over access to treatment.
Val said: I had the opportunity of talking to nine assembly members and I felt they appreciated what I had to say. Some were quite concerned about their constituents and asked me to contact their office to provide them with more specific information. They said this would enable them to take some action on the points I raised either before or after the election.
Val felt the visit to Cardiff enabled her to network with other support groups and share information and concerns. It will also give us the opportunity to work with other organisations and enable us, even though we are a small organisation, to make our voice heard.
