PAINTER WITH WRITER'S CRAMP RAISES MONEY FOR THE DYSTONIA SOCIETY
10 January 2007An artist with dystonia is raising money for The Dystonia Society by donating 10% from every painting sold.
Christine Gibbons, who is based in Hertfordshire, has writer’s cramp, a form of dystonia characterised by tremor, involuntary movement or cramps in the hand or arm muscles. Originally right handed, she has taught herself to paint with her left hand, and has been painting for several years as an interesting and relaxing pastime. “I find that if I draw or paint it takes me into another world”, she says.
Christine’s paintings, all watercolours, can be viewed and ordered via her website, www.christinegibbons.co.uk and are currently being exhibited at the Hertfordshire Graphics Ltd Gallery in Hertford. Prints are available in a variety of sizes.
Christine says: “One of the paintings on the website is of my daughter aged three running on Hemsby Beach in the winter. Another is from a photo of Lanzarote beach from my holiday. This is one of my favorites as it makes me think what a wonderful holiday we had.”
