THE DYSTONIA SOCIETY GETS A SERVICE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
10 January 2006Val Wells has joined the Dystonia Society as Service Development Manager, where she will be responsible for the development and improvement of services throughout the National Health Service to people with dystonia.
Val has been a registered nurse for 35 years but worked more recently as a clinical advisor to the Health Service Ombudsman on nursing and health care issues for senior investigating officers handling complaints.
She worked there for 20 months since taking early retirement from the NHS where she spent three years as a consultant nurse for complex care within a primary care trust.
Val has experience as a senior community nurse, a specialist community palliative care nurse and in advising primary care trusts and health authorities, where she developed negotiating skills in championing causes at strategic and operational levels. She also brings skills to the society in training, education and staff development.
Val has a family of two grown up sons and enjoys travelling, music, reading and keeping fit.
