I suffer from Cervical Dystonia and Myoclonic Dystonia. I have had 5 major operations including DBS, an Electronic Stimulator implanted over my cervical cord and 3 peripheral nerve denervation operations but none of them have relieved the pain and depression I feel. However I have recently had a minor operation for an ingrowing toenail. Unfortunately it became infected and I was prescribed an antibiotic 250mg two times a day. After 2-3 days my neck muscles felt much softer and here I am today with a 50 to 60 % reduction of the spasm/s in my neck and back muscle (the splenius capitas). I believe that some types of penicillin can reduce the effects of dystonia and there are clinical trials currently being carried out with encouraging results.
